17 de outubro de 2023Had the Gastronomic fixed menu (€80 each) which included paired wines… all courses were excellent except the “Pernod soup” which I think is a hate/love… I loved but wife hated…. Wines were very good and even the wind and slight rain did not spoil the evening…. Only major improvement would be on the speed of service and providing petit for even though coffee not taken…

The setting is sublime.We were hosted and served by very nice professional and friendly clientminded people.The setting put high expectations on the food which did not really meet the expectations.However overall score: must do when in Madeira!

18 de setembro de 2023Second time on Madeira and 4th time in this restaurant. This place is better than one of Michellin star restaurants on island.Overall the food service and atmosphere are great at the Fort. Just this time I can t give 5 stars and here is why.First what is good.All three starters were great.1. Foie gras 3: buttery and was interestingly paired with ice cream and truffle gives different textures and all works together very well.2. Aged beef carpaccio and smoked salmon carpaccio was perfect very soft and with fresh and gentle sauces.Now the little disappointment. Out of 5 main courses two was with fish and both were not as expected. 1. The black salmon was wrapped in seawed which was very intense flavored and covered salmon s taste. If seaweed was a little bit milder different type it might work better but unfortunately didn t work for me and salmon was a little bit dry. The ratatouille on the side was great.2. The grouper was little dry as well and didn t impress with its usually tasty flavor.The rest main courses: Lamb smocked duck risotto and drunk pork cheek were amazing very tasty soft and flavorful nothing oversalted or overcooked- just right! Also wine suggestions worked great!We definitely recommend this place which deserves a star!

9 de julho de 2023Une très belle soirée passée en ce restaurant qui en vaut le détour autant pour le cadre que pour ce qu il y a dans les assiettes dans les verres et le personnel. Excellent choix pour une très belle soirée

The food was excellent our hostess very friendly and the €55 per head package whilst not cheap was excellent value for money as it came with a number of intermediate courses and the wine kept flowing. Book on a Saturday evening in June and you get the added benefit of fireworks over the harbour.
